Preparing artwork for UV DTF
Transparency, white layers and fine detail for hard-surface transfers.
File basics
- 1Export as PNG with a transparent background.
- 2Aim for 300 DPI at the final size — UV DTF designs are small, so detail shows.
- 3Use solid edges; soft glows and faded edges can look cloudy.
- 4Outline or convert text to shapes if you send vector files.
Thinking about the white layer
A white layer is printed under the colours so they stay bright on clear or dark surfaces. On clear glass, any area without white will look see-through. If you want a see-through effect intentionally, mention it in your order note.
Fine detail
- Separate small elements (individual letters, dots) can be harder to transfer. Very thin lines under about 0.5 mm may not release cleanly.
- Connected designs or designs with a thin outline usually apply more easily.
